Ruby Woodburn Poe, age 93, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Poe was born on October 30, 1930, in Olney KY to the late David Moody Poe and Ollie Calvert Poe. He served his country in the United States Army in Panama from 1952 – 1953 and taught school for two years. Mr. Poe retired after working 44 years for the ICG and P & L Railroads. He was a member of Adriel Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters ~ Charisse Knight of Dawson Springs, KY, Margaret (Ray) Purdy of Dawson Springs, KY and Kim (Steve) Gilliam of Madisonville, KY; a son ~ Randy (Sandi) Poe of Dawson Springs, KY; a brother-in-law ~ Donald Inglis of Dawson Springs, KY; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife ~ Elaine Davis Poe; three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation for Ruby Woodburn Poe will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. David Frisby officiating. Burial will follow at McNeely Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
Pallbearers will be: Chris Poe, Josh Franklin, Jed Killough, Zack Skimehorn, Patrick Bean and Gauge Weatherwax. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Tucker and Jon Blalock.
