Two Lyon County teens were charged with theft last week in connection to a stolen vehicle.
Sheriff Brent White reports that a vehicle was stolen from a residence in Eddyville on Knob Street around 2:30 Monday morning, February 19th. He says the SUV was driven to several residences in the south end of Lyon County before it was involved in a severe collision on KY 903 just inside the Caldwell County line.
Sheriff White says he and Caldwell County Sheriff’s Deputy Stacey Blackburn conducted an investigation which resulted in two juveniles, one male age 15 and one female age 16, being taken into custody and charged with theft by unlawful taking – auto over $10,000. The teens were reportedly taken to Caldwell County Medical Center where they were cleared. He indicates a third juvenile passenger was also treated and released from the same hospital, but is not facing criminal charges at this time.
According to Sheriff White, this is the second stolen vehicle in a ten-day period involving the two juveniles. He says both juveniles were ordered detained by the Lyon District Court Judge. The 16-year old girl was transported to Boyd Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Ashland and the 15-year old boy was transported to the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
