At last week’s meeting, the Princeton Rotary Club was provided information about the Salvation Army’s Veteran Support Services Program, which is available to veterans in Caldwell County.
Program Director Julie Copeland mentioned that the Salvation Army began managing a Veterans grant to offer assistance to veterans. She also shared a personal story about her late husband, a veteran, and the demons they carry from their years of service.

She went on to share that the program assists veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. She pointed out that until approximately six months ago, there were no services from this program available in Caldwell County for veterans.

She said the goal is for the veteran to start paying half of the rent halfway through the program and then be moved to another program where half of the rent is covered for 2 years or more, helping them save money, regain stability, and prepare for the future.
In addition, the program provides case managers, a healthcare navigator, a housing navigator, and a job navigator to assist veterans in obtaining an income.
Furthermore, Copeland noted that the veteran does not have to pay anything to the Salvation Army.
