During Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved a second reading of an ordinance that amends the policies and procedures at the local animal shelter.
Judge-Executive Kota Young presented the second reading of the revised ordinance that modifies the operating hours at the Caldwell County Animal Shelter.
The revised ordinance also encompasses animal shelter fees.

Young mentioned that they are taking strict action against individuals who may be neglecting their animals.

In other new business, magistrates unanimously agreed to surplus the security camera system from the Caldwell County Jail to be transferred to the animal shelter. Jailer Willie Harper clarified that the jail had acquired a new camera system through a grant and decided to donate the older equipment to the animal shelter, following interest expressed by Animal Control Officer Kevin Lane in having cameras installed outside the facility.
click to download audioThe magistrates also have approval to advertise for bids for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program generators, as noted by Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin that this was the next necessary step.
Furthermore, Judge Young provided a report regarding the proposed $1.1 million budget for Fiscal Year 2025.
