Patsy L. McDonald, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on March 25, 2024, at her home in Princeton, Kentucky. Born in Livermore, Kentucky on November 29, 1941, to James and Iola Weatherly Griffey, Patsy’s 82 years of life were marked by her unwavering devotion to her family, her pioneering spirit in the workplace, and her passionate involvement within her community.
In her earlier years, Patsy established her pioneering legacy by becoming the first female foreman in her industry in Indiana. Her drive and aspirations didn’t stop there; she pursued further education and explored her love of photography. Co-owning a bridal business with her sister and owning her own photography studio were among her formidable achievements. Her passion for capturing life’s beautiful moments remained evident as she transitioned her studio from Evansville, Indiana to a new beginning in Princeton, Kentucky. She was a proud member of the Professional Photographers of America association.
Beyond family and career, Patsy found joy and fulfillment in her associations. She was a member of First Christian Church in Princeton, the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Legion Auxiliary.
Her strength as a dedicated mother saw her working tirelessly to provide for her loving children. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl K. (David) Moesner of Dale, IN; son, Brian K. (Lori) Hinton of Panama City, FL; beloved grandchildren, Mark (Rachel) Moesner of Evansville, IN, Matthew (Sara) Moesner of Holland, IN, Sarah (Martin) Shreffler of Georgetown, KY; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kellan, Nolan, Levi, and Luke; along with several caring nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Leon McDonald; her sisters, Mareta Andreas, Fara Nell Patch, Pansy Jo Hughes; her brother, James Griffey; and one great-grandchild, Eli Shreffler.
Her pets, particularly her cats, and her adorable Pomeranian dogs, brought her immeasurable happiness. As an incredible cook, Patsy’s 4th of July parties were legendary. She also loved KFC, popcorn, and barbeque dishes. Her patriotism shone brightly as she supported Veterans’ Day activities and paid tribute to those who served. Moreover, Patsy’s playful side emerged as she enjoyed pontoon boat rides and in her earlier days enjoyed reading comic books with her children in their youth.
