A Princeton man who was wanted for escape from the local jail and was arrested in Lyon County over the weekend is facing additional charges in Caldwell County.

According to Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison, after 30-year old Gregory Munsell was booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center on Saturday, he was interviewed by detectives and admitted to a burglary and auto theft that occurred on North Jefferson Street. He was additionally charged with burglary, auto theft and theft of debit/credit cards.

As previously reported, Munsell was furloughed to a rehab/treatment facility and was to report to the jail upon completion or termination from the facility. He arrived at the jail and was waiting to be processed when the police said he ran out the front door and didn’t return on Friday, April 12th. Police obtained a warrant for Munsell charging him with escape.

Two days later, Allison says officers responded to a residence near the 600 block of North Jefferson Street for a burglary and auto theft. He says the investigation revealed that someone had entered the victim’s residence stole her purse and keys and then stole the victim’s vehicle. Officers suspected Munsell of the crime and notified surrounding agencies to be on the lookout for Munsell and the stolen vehicle.

Allison reports that on Monday, April 15th, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office contacted local police to let them know the stolen vehicle had been recovered on Ogden Landing Road and a witness identified Munsell as the person who abandoned the car. McCracken County authorities were unable to located Munsell in the area.

It was reported that on Wednesday, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office contacted Princeton detectives and said Munsell had stolen another vehicle in their jurisdiction. The following day detectives discovered video evidence where Munsell had used the credit cards stolen from the North Jefferson Street burglary.

Munsell was arrested on multiple warrants while in a Kuttawa business on Saturday including the initial warrant out of Caldwell County charging him with escape.

Munsell is also facing charges of burglary, criminal mischief, and receiving stolen property, an auto in Lyon County, and auto theft in McCracken County. Authorities say charges are pending in Crittenden County after he allegedly burglarized an automobile dealership in Marion Saturday morning.
