Updates were presented to the Caldwell County Fiscal Court at Tuesday’s meeting by Emergency Management, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Animal Shelter.
Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin and Sheriff Don Weedman shared the collaborative efforts of 22 different agencies and the hours of manpower that were invested in the week-long search for an Alabama man last week.
Sheriff Weedman emphasized that the search was a joint effort and expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support received during the extensive operation.
click to download audioAs previously reported, the remains of 83-year old Roy Jackson, of Florence, were found a distance away from the Trusty Cemetery on Trusty Cemetery Road where his abandoned vehicle was located on Monday. The remains were reportedly located in some underbrush, bordering a field near a stream, and were identified by Jackson’s distinctive physical features. Sheriff Weedman also reported on Saturday that an autopsy was going to be conducted but no foul play is suspected.
Furthermore, Sheriff Weedman gave an update on personnel during his report to the Fiscal Court.
