Two Caldwell County educators received the Excellence in Teaching Award on Tuesday, April 30 during a ceremony at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts on the campus of Madisonville Community College.

Public Relations Coordinator Lizzie Wynn says the recipients included Holly Peters from Caldwell County Primary School and Andrew Felker from Caldwell County High School.

According to Wynn, the Excellence Teaching Award was established through collaboration with area public schools, Madisonville Community College, and Murray State University-Madisonville. The goal of the award is to celebrate and highlight teaching excellence in elementary, middle and high school education. The award recognizes educators from Caldwell, Crittenden Dawson Springs, Hopkins, Muhlenberg and Webster County.

At the reception, Caldwell County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach shared quotes about both recipients from their closes colleagues. Caldwell County High School Principal Daniel Kukahiko said “Andrew Felker is the epitome of what a teacher should be. He has a passion for teaching and helping students see and reach their potential.”

Wynn said this recognition is even more special for Holly Peters, who is retiring at the end of the year. Caldwell County Primary School Principal Danny Bean said it’s great to honor a tremendous teacher and person such as Holly Peters. He went on to say she has devoted her heart and soul to a wonderful career of teaching children the joy of learning. He noted that Mrs. Peters’ passion and dedication leave a lasting impression with her students inspiring them to embrace and enjoy their educational journey.

School officials also extended their congratulations to these outstanding educators.
