Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued early Wednesday afternoon for Caldwell and Lyon counties as dangerous storms pushed through western Kentucky, with more severe weather possible Wednesday evening.
Caldwell County Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin tells Your WPKY News Edge that no damages or injuries were reported as of 3:30 p.m. due to the severe storms that moved through our area. However, McCaslin says another round of severe weather is expected this evening.

He said there are trained spotters in place making sure we know when a dangerous weather event is imminent, and for that reason in an effort to not confuse residents with multiple warnings, severe thunderstorm warnings will not set off Caldwell Storm Sirens. During the event of a tornado warning, McCaslin says ALL sirens in both the Princeton and Fredonia areas will sound.
The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for western Kentucky mid-morning Wednesday, which is set to expire at 5:00 p.m. unless it’s extended.
McCaslin says you can sign up for weather alerts.
