Nearly 50 Weather Warnings Issued in the Area Wednesday

Wednesday was an active weather day across western Kentucky with nearly 50 warnings issued for Trigg, Caldwell, Christian, Lyon, and Todd Counties.

The first severe thunderstorm warnings for Trigg and Christian counties were sent at 4:52 am — the first of 40 severe thunderstorm warnings issued for the five counties.

Lyon County’s first severe thunderstorm warning was issued at 7:58am, followed by Caldwell County at 8:25 and Todd County at 12:08 pm.

All total, there were 14 severe thunderstorm warnings issued in Christian County on Wednesday. Eight were issued in Caldwell County, seven in Trigg County, six in Lyon County, and five in Todd County.

There were three tornado warnings issued for Christian County, two in Trigg County, and one each in Caldwell and Todd counties.

Rainfall for Wednesday ranged from two to five inches in parts of the five counties with a new record rainfall for May 8 likely set in three of the counties.

Luckily, minimal damage was reported with the storms that finally moved through the area in the early morning hours.
