Bare Bones Ballot Leads to Low Turnout in Caldwell County

A little over 12% of Caldwell County’s registered voters cast their ballots for the President of the United States, the sole race on the county’s ballot for the Primary Election on Tuesday.

County Clerk Jennifer Hale announced the unofficial totals for the Republican and Democratic Presidential races to WPKY’s News Edge on Tuesday evening.

click to download audioAccording to Hale, Caldwell County has 9,189 registered voters affiliated with the Republican and Democrat parties, out of a total of 9,966 registered voters in the county with just north of 1,100 casting ballots.

click to download audioShe added that the turnout for the Primary Election in Caldwell County was 12.3%.

Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams had stated earlier in the day that he expected around 15 percent of registered voters across the state to go to the polls on Tuesday.

The November General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5.
