Utility Crews Work Tirelessly to Restore Power in Caldwell and Lyon Counties

Utility crews are diligently working to restore power to hundreds of members after severe thunderstorms and a tornado moved through Caldwell and Lyon counties on Sunday.

As of 11:15 Tuesday morning, Pennyrile Electric is reporting 546 power outages in Caldwell County, down from 842 Sunday night. Kenergy has restored power to 380 customers with 360 still without power, and Kentucky Utilities (KU) is reporting 177 remain without power in Caldwell County.

In Lyon County, as of 11:15 Tuesday morning, Pennyrile Electric crews have restored power to 401 customers with 680 still without power, while Kenergy is reporting power has been restored to 493 customers with 190 still without power. Kentucky Utilities is reporting 40 of its 3,040 total customers is without power in Lyon County.

According to Pennyrile Electric, power had been restored to over 11,300 customers as of Tuesday morning. Following the Sunday storms, Pennyrile Electric had more than 22,000 customers who lost power. Officials report they have 16,698 members currently without power. Officials said they will continue to make progress today with more than 440 people in the field working in the Pennyrile Electric service area.
