In response to the deadly storms that struck Kentucky over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Kentucky REALTORS®, in partnership with the National REALTORS® Relief Foundation, has announced $200,000 in relief funds to assist individuals and families whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

Over the holiday weekend, five Kentuckians lost their lives in the storms in Caldwell, Hardin, Hopkins, Jefferson, and Mercer counties. Officials from Kentucky REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® say they are taking swift action to support those in need as they continue to deal with the aftermath of the recent severe weather.

According to officials, these relief funds are available to assist with mortgage or rental payments and provide lodging assistance for those displaced by the tornadoes. The aid is limited to one month of housing expenses, up to a maximum of $1,000 per household. The assistance is available to individuals who experienced home damage due to the State of Emergency declared on May 26. Eligible residents are encouraged to apply for relief funds by the deadline of July 30.

Residents impacted by the storms are urged to submit their applications for assistance at kyrealtors.com/relief. The application window is open and will close on Tuesday, July 30, at 4 p.m. local time.

Since the devastating tornado outbreak in western Kentucky in December 2021, the Kentucky REALTORS® Relief Foundation and the National REALTORS® Relief Foundation have reportedly allocated $1.3 million in housing assistance to victims of natural disasters in Kentucky.

Officials with the Kentucky REALTORS® Association report that they have responded to numerous severe weather incidents in the state since the 2021 tornado. This includes the deadly flooding in eastern Kentucky in 2022 and the summer flooding in western Kentucky the same year.
