Mary Grim Grisham, age 72, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mrs. Grisham was born on November 10, 1951, in Hamilton County, OH (Cincinnati) to the late J. Fred Grim and Eugenia Vaal Grim. Known for her unwavering dedication to education and service, Mary’s impact on the Dawson Springs community will be felt for years to come.
Mary’s journey was one filled with passion and purpose. A graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education, she embodied a lifelong love for learning and growth. As a substitute teacher for the Dawson Springs School System and a former PTO president, she poured her heart into shaping the minds of young individuals, leaving an indelible mark on each life touched. Her commitment to nurturing the next generation extended beyond the classroom as she also served as a Girl Scout Troop leader, influencing many young girls along their path to adulthood.
Mary’s proudest accomplishments were not only professional but spiritual as well. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, she shared her talents by teaching Sunday School, leading arts and crafts in Vacation Bible School, and preparing meals for senior citizens within her church family.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness cherished by many. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Gary Grisham of Dawson Springs; her daughter Debra Lee Oldham and son-in-law D.J.; granddaughter Natalee Paige Oldham; loving sister Beth Yutze; step-sister Brenda Gough; and step-brother Mark Gough. Her spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In reflecting on her life, we remember Mary not only for her achievements but also for the love she shared with those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Virginia Bryant, and a step-sister Peggy Grim.
Services to honor Mary Grim Grisham will take place on June 9th at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, Kentucky. The visitation will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mike Jicka officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
Pallbearers will be: Don Oldham, Larry Ligon, Stephan Grimes, Chris Ward, Lee James, and Justin Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Copeland, Chris Evitts and Billy Morris.
As we say goodbye to a remarkable woman whose light will continue to shine brightly through all those she inspired, let us hold onto the legacy of compassion and service that Mary so beautifully exemplified throughout her life.
