Marie Antoinette Gray was born in Princeton, Kentucky on June 8, 1970 to Jesse Richard and Ruby Lee Boyd Gray. She departed this earthly life on June 23, 2024.
Marie was a 1988 graduate of Caldwell County High School and a graduate of Murray State University. She was a member of Shepherd Street Missionary Baptist Church.
Marie loved her family intensely. Her sons were the apple of her eye. She had high expectations for them and always talked to them about being respectful gentlemen, working hard in school, and doing the right thing.
Marie’s courage and determination was a true inspiration to so many. She rarely met a stranger and was often known to stop and talk to those she would come into contact with wherever she was. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile would brighten the darkest room. She always had a zest for life and celebrated it. You could be certain that if a dance floor was around, you would find her on it.
Marie was passionate about helping children. She dedicated many years of her life working with primary and elementary aged students. She coordinated the Community Disciples tutoring program and was adamant that struggling students get the help needed to be on level with their peers.
She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved sons, Grayson Harris and Gerwin Harris; three sisters, Katie Copeland, Penny Thornton (Ronnie), and Jackie Wilkerson (Kenneth); five brothers, Melvin Gray, Victor Gray (Paulette), Anthony Gray (Netta), David Gray, and Jerry Gray (Hilda); an uncle Claude Boyd; several nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, and devoted friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nancy Smith and Marilyn Harris; and a brother, Jesse Richard Gray, Jr.
Although Marie will be sorely missed, her love for life will live on in the memories of those who came to know and love her.
