Nearly 200 families will benefit from the region’s generosity thanks to the Cooling Our Communities campaign.
Tiffany Roth, a Community Resource Coordinator for Pennyrile Allied Community Service, works with families in need in Trigg County. Roth said the fans donated with benefit families from all nine counties in their service area.
Edge Media Group’s Kimberly Allen added they received some major contributions this year, including from the Tennessee Valley Authority with a donation of 100 electric fans. Brice Long’s Back 2 Back Foundation provided a $1,000 donation, while the Elkton Rotary Club stepped up with a $200 contribution.
Many community members and businesses dropped off donations at the Edge Media Group radio stations, Cadiz Ace Hardware, Falders, Akridge Farm Supply, and Pennyroyal Hospice.
Allen said that donations are still being accepted online.
Fredonia Valley Bank and Novelis also helped with the promotion of the event as Community Partners for WPKY and WEKT respectively. The 2023 effort provided 81 fans to community members in need.
