The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will implement daytime closures on KY 109 in Hopkins County next week to allow crews to safely remove debris from the Memorial Day weekend tornado.
According to officials, the closure will take place between KY 1220 (Olney Road) to Daylight Road near the old Charleston School, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
KYTC crews from multiple counties have been diligently working to remove debris from Hopkins County since the May 26 tornado. However, officials say heavy traffic along KY 109 has hindered their efforts on this stretch of roadway.
Motorists are advised to heed traffic control signs and remain vigilant for workers in and around the work zones. Officials noted that no marked detour will be provided.
