A juvenile was taken to the hospital after a vehicle hit a deer and it crashed through the windshield in Lyon County last week.

Sheriff Brent White reports the wreck occurred around 3:00 Thursday afternoon on KY 1055 near Ralph Beatty Road.

According to the investigation, 33-year old Gloria Stubblefield of Paducah was driving a minivan northwest on KY 1055 when a deer entered the road. She was unable to avoid hitting the deer, which proceeded through the vehicle’s windshield and died in the passenger’s side floorboard.

Sheriff White says one of Stubblefield’s four passengers was injured as a result of the glass breakage and impact with the deer. The juvenile was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Eddyville Fire Department, Kentucky State Police and Lyon County EMS assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
