Princeton City Council Approves Purchase of New Truck for Fire Chief

Princeton City Council approved a bid to purchase a new truck for the fire department at Monday night’s meeting and received an update on the City-County Park softball field project.

During unfinished, Mayor Brock Thomas informed the council that the City of Princeton received one bid north of $63,000 from Wildcat Chevrolet in Cadiz for the purchase of a pickup truck for Chief Brent Francis.

The bid was unanimously approved.

The council also approved the second readings of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget amendment and an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2024 Pay Plan, which adjusts the hourly rate for School Resource Officer 1 to $29.03.

During the mayor’s report, Thomas provided some quick updates, mentioning that the softball field project is set to begin next month.

In addition, Mayor Thomas said they are looking at a location for a ballpark.

During the committee and department reports, Jenny Clark from the Planning Commission expressed her excitement about the Arby’s restaurant opening in Princeton last week.

The Council also heard other committee and department reports, including from Code Enforcement, the Princeton-Caldwell County Airport Board and Animal Control. We’ll have more on those reports in the coming days.
