Caldwell County School Board Approves Security Upgrades at the Central Office

The Caldwell County School Board has approved the BG1 for access control and security cameras at the Central Office, as well as a Capital Funds request to cover property insurance and ongoing repairs at the gym.

At Monday night’s meeting, Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach explained that the Capital Funds request aims to reallocate restricted funds to cover the $170,000 cost of property insurance and to finance the final phase of gym repairs, which includes painting the gym.

click to download audioThe board approved the Capital Funds request totaling approximately $210,000 with a 4-0 vote, as board chair Tim Kennaday was absent from the meeting.

In other business, the board unanimously approved the BG1 for the Central Office access control and security cameras. Roach explained that this is part of the district-wide safety measures.

click to download audioThe board also approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the KHEAA and Caldwell County Schools. Roach said the money would be used to pay for supplies for a tailgate promotion.

click to download audioThe board unanimously approved a motion declaring an emergency regarding the availability of certified and qualified applicants for substitute teachers and adjunct instructors for the 2024-2025 school year, as explained by Dr. Roach.

click to download audioAnd the board unanimously approved raising adult meal prices from $3.15 to $3.50 for breakfast and from $4.65 to $5.00 for lunch.

The board also heard reports from Director of Technology Ryan Westlie and the Director of Pupil Personnel Laura White. We’ll have details of those reports in the coming days.
