The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Lyon County Highway Maintenance Crew has responded to a report of a small sinkhole along KY 1271 in Lyon County.
District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says the sinkhole is near the 1.2 mile point, about 3/4ths of a mile west of the intersection with KY 810 South.
According to Todd, the crew plans to attempt a repair tonight and will revisit the site in the morning to assess its effectiveness. If there are indications that the sinkhole is still expanding, the crew will return to excavate the area and initiate another repair effort.
Drivers should be aware of one-lane traffic with alternating flow managed by flaggers. Expect potential delays during the movement and placement of equipment necessary for the work.
Drivers should exercise appropriate caution when equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are near the road and close to traffic flow.
KYTC District 1 will attempt to provide timely updates should additional repairs be needed on Tuesday.
