A Princeton man is facing his second DUI and other offenses after police responded to a report of a vehicle damaging a headstone at a local cemetery and then fleeing the scene.

Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison reports officers responded to the complaint at Cedar Hill Cemetery around 7:30 Tuesday night and were given a description of the vehicle and a photo of the license plate. He says officers located the vehicle in the area of Hillview Court and made a traffic stop.

Upon contact with the driver, 26-year old Tanner Sewell, officers said they could smell the odor of marijuana and alcohol. Allison says a further investigation determined that Sewell was under the influence of intoxicants. Officers also found that Sewell’s driver’s license was suspended and he was reportedly in possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sewell was taken into custody and charged with DUI 2nd offense, failure to notify of damage, criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance and operating on a suspended license.
