Superintendent Cody Kirby provided an update this week on the Caldwell County Water District’s current and upcoming projects, including the installation of new water meters and the initiation of an interconnect project with Fredonia’s water system.
According to Kirby, they plan to install hundreds of new water meters by the end of the year.
click to download audioHe mentioned that the Caldwell County Water District sources its water from Princeton Water and Wastewater, which draws from the lake near Eddyville.
He explained that the water district’s geographic information system (GIS) project, which provides water system managers with tools for mapping and data analysis to enhance water planning, has been operational since mid-February.
click to download audioKirby also mentioned that he and Fredonia Mayor Jim Seibert were meeting with an engineer and a program manager at Pennyrile Area Development District this week to initiate the interconnect project with Fredonia.
click to download audioHe noted that both the Kentucky Division of Water and the Environmental Protection Agency are advocating for many of these interconnects, a move that Kirby fully supports.
Furthermore, Kirby announced that they will be updating their billing systems at the water district, and as a result, their office will be closed on Wednesday, October 2.
