The Princeton Tourism Commission convened for a special meeting Monday morning and approved three funding requests for upcoming events.
With just enough members present for a quorum, Commission member Julie Poole informed the attending board members that the Princeton Optimist Club had requested funding for the upcoming Black Patch Festival.

In addition, Poole mentioned that the City-County Park had requested up to $500 for Movie Night at the pool. After she explained that the funding request was intended to cover the copyright license, the Commission approved $250 of the requested amount.
The Commission also approved $200 in funding for radio ads to promote three upcoming events: Dotson Days, the Fredonia Festival, and the Black Patch Heritage Festival.
During the meeting, the nomination and selection of a chairperson was postponed until the next Tourism Commission session, when the vacant board seats are expected to be filled. The board consists of seven members in total. Poole mentioned that Mayor Brock Thomas would appoint individuals to fill the two vacant seats during the upcoming city council meeting on Monday, August 5.
