Eddyville Woman Charged with Assault Following Grocery Store Disturbance

An Eddyville woman was charged with assault and other offenses after police responded to a disturbance complaint at a grocery store in Lyon County last week.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports 47-year old Tara Erevia was taken into custody after an investigation into the complaint at Food Giant in Eddyville around 4:40 Wednesday afternoon.

He says the investigation revealed that Erevia saw another female customer in the store’s check-out line and started cursing her, before relinquishing all her merchandise to a store employee, and assaulting the victim customer and fleeing the store.

On the way out of the store, Erevia also allegedly threatened another victim with bodily harm who was trying to diffuse the situation. Deputies said Erevia then got into her car and drove in reverse out of the grocery store parking lot so witnesses could not get her license plate number. An off-duty law enforcement officer reportedly observed the incident and was one of the reporting parties. It was also reported that Erevia nearly collided with another vehicle in the process.

Sheriff White says Erevia was located by deputies and detained while witness statements were taken at the scene. She was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, terroristic threatening, reckless driving, no Kentucky operator’s license, residents not to use license of other states, and failure to maintain required insurance. She was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
