The Princeton City Council took the next step to advance the pickleball and tennis courts project at the City-County Park by approving a bid during Monday night’s meeting.
Mayor Brock Thomas mentioned that the project for the pickleball courts was put out for bid in mid-March. He recommended that the Council approve the bid from General Acrylics, based in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, for the amount of $54,000.

In other unfinished business, Mayor Thomas announced that the City had received three bids for two large Uniroyal signs. He recommended approving the highest bid submitted by Mike Swatzel.
click to download audioIn new business, Council members approved the mayor’s recommended appointments of Scott Evans and Sam Bartolotti to the Princeton Tourism Commission, with their terms set to expire on June 25, 2027.
The Council also approved the appointment of Suzanne Davis to the Princeton Electric Plant Board to fill the unexpired term of Sarah Catherine Parker. Her term will expire September 1, 2025.
During the mayor’s comments, Thomas shared some good news: the storm debris removal for the City of Princeton was slightly below $47,000. Since the Memorial Day weekend storms were declared a disaster by President Joe Biden last month, he mentioned that the City would be submitting the necessary documents to receive reimbursement for the storm debris cleanup.
Additionally, the mayor briefly mentioned that the City is applying for a playground grant and expressed optimism that it will be successful.
The City Council also received several reports from various committees and departments, including an update from AmeriPro EMS Operations Supervisor Dana Woolsey, who shared the information she had presented to the Caldwell County Fiscal Court at its last meeting in July.
