Melissa “Missy” Jean Cain, age 53, of Princeton, passed away on August 5, 2024, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born in Princeton, Kentucky, on August 29, 1970, to the late Jesse Allen Cain and her surviving mother, Betty Sue Cain. Known affectionately as Missy, she dedicated her life to the well-being of others, embracing her role as a Licensed Practical Nurse with a loving, friendly nature that endeared her to patients and colleagues alike. Her career was not just a job but a manifestation of her innate desire to care for those in need, a trait that stood as a testament to her beautiful, kind-hearted spirit. Beyond her work, her greatest joy was found in the laughter and love of her family. She took in everyone in need and cared for all of her children’s friends as her own. She was the neighborhood mom and everyone felt her love.
She is now at peace joining her eldest son Kameron “Bubba” Cain in heaven. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for her daughters, Erica Holloway of Princeton and Alisia Wilkerson of Paducah; son, Damonta Hopson of Princeton; treasured grandchildren, Jameson Ryder Cain, Malaysia Lee Riley, Isabella Marie Asher, and Zy’mir Lamar Hopson; and her adoring sisters, Sharon Lawrence of Princeton and Anita Coggins of Hopkinsville; two nephews, Jeremy (Jamie) Puckett, Jesse Dakota Lawrence; great-niece, Amelia James Puckett; great-nephew, Luke Allen Puckett, Milo Maverick Lawrence; and her dear friend LaTosha White amongst many other close friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Allen Cain, and her son, Kameron “Bubba” Cain, who both held special places in her heart.
A spirited soul, Missy found solace and joy in the simplicity of life’s moments-loving on her grandkids, cherishing time with her beloved dog, Pippa, and infusing every room with her infectious laughter and nurturing love. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a wonderful human and friend but most of all, the best mother with the deepest love. She devoted her life to caring for her own kids and many others.
