Caldwell County Jail Eyes New Healthcare Provider for Inmates Amid Doubling Costs

Caldwell County Jailer Willie Harper informed the Fiscal Court on Tuesday that the local facility is considering a switch in healthcare providers for inmates due to a significant increase in the proposed renewal contract with the current medical provider.

According to Harper, the jail’s medical contract for the new year has doubled and he’s looking to change providers.

click to download audioUnder the current contract, he mentioned that the medical doctor comes in about twice a month while the new company, Three C’s — Comprehensive Correctional Care, will be at the jail weekly.

Three C’s President James Wiseman, a Marshall County resident, shared his background and the company that he started.

click to download audioHe also explained that the state says the inmate’s health has to be maintained from the time they come into the facility until they leave, which is what his company provides.

click to download audioWiseman said the medical healthcare proposal with his company that he gave to Harper was approximately $92,456.

click to download audioAfter some more discussion with magistrates, Judge-Executive Kota Young asked Harper to get all the information together that magistrates need to review for consideration.
