Gov. Beshear Provides Updates on Support Efforts for Storm-Affected Kentuckians

Governor Andy Beshear provided an update on ongoing efforts to support those affected by severe storms and tornadoes over the Memorial Day weekend.

During his Team Kentucky update on Thursday, Gov. Beshear announced that 74 Kentuckians affected by recent storms are currently receiving shelter through the Commonwealth Sheltering program.

click to download audioAs of Wednesday, the Governor reported that FEMA has distributed over $1.3 million in Individual Assistance funds to 883 survivors in the 15 counties impacted by the Memorial Day weekend storms.

He also encouraged those who have applied for federal aid and received an ineligibility letter from FEMA to file an appeal.

Beshear concluded his update on the Memorial Day weekend storms by affirming his administration is committed to supporting those affected by disasters in the commonwealth and will continue to navigate these challenging times together.
