Officials with the Pennyrile Area Development District announced Thursday the arrival of $130,000 — earmarked for the Princeton Water & Wastewater Commission, in order to update a facilities plan for a wastewater treatment plant necessary for efficiency and the treating of biological hazards.
The funding comes from the Delta Regional Authority’s Strategic Planning Program, which supports communities by promoting problem-solving, resilience and the building of partnerships.
Utility managers and personnel are responsible for needs assessment and water resource potential, and these monies will help Caldwell County draft contracts for preliminary engineering work such as the surveying, geotechnical investigation, environmental, and initial design — further preparing the location for future funding opportunities.
In a written statement, Water Superintendent James Noel said the preparation was “key” to maintaining a quality infrastructure system, and that Princeton Water & Wastewater Commission is appreciative of this funding — which ensures the system is equipped and prepared for future enhancements.
PeADD is serving as a front-line project manager within this Delta Regional Authority footprint.
