Broadbent B & B Foods took top honors in the Kentucky Country Ham Show winning their 4th grand championship in the past five years and the 16th in the company’s history.
Receiving the plaque from Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jonathon Shell was new owner Josh Polling who purchased Broadbent B & B Foods from Ronnie and Beth Drennan in July. Ronnie Drennan says he and Beth sold the business because they are ready to retire.
Polling gave all the credit for the win to Ronnie and Beth Drennan.
Polling says he is excited to be the new owner of Broadbent B & B Foods.
He says taking over Broadbents is a great way to carry on the tradition of country hams.
Polling says he is no stranger to the restaurant and food business.
The Drennans have owned Broadbent B & B Foods for 26 years after they purchased the business from Smith Broadbent III in 1998. They moved the ham curing operation from Cadiz to Kuttawa where they constructed a large curing facility. Over the past 26 years, the Drennan’s have added a variety of new products such as pepper bacon, cooked and sliced ham, and other items that are sold in their store in Kuttawa. The mail-order business has expanded, with Broadbent Ham served in many restaurants in Kentucky and other states.
