A Princeton woman was flown to an out-of-state hospital after a two-vehicle wreck in front of Walmart over the weekend.

Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison reports officers responded to the collision on U.S. 62 West shortly before 11:20 Saturday morning.

He said an investigation revealed that 25-year old Kaitlyn Joiner, of Princeton, had just left Walmart and was attempting to make a left turn onto U.S. 62 from the Princeton Wine and Spirits parking lot when her SUV struck a car driven by 74-year old Carolyn Rustin. The report indicates the collision caused both vehicles to go off the road into the ditch in front of Treehouse Foods.

Police said Rustin was extricated from her vehicle by the Princeton Fire Department and later flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for possible neck injuries.

Officers were assisted at the scene by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, AmeriPro EMS, and the Princeton Fire Department.
