Caldwell Fiscal Court Approves Key Resolutions For Library Expansion

Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved a resolution amending the grant application for the library expansion project at Tuesday morning’s meeting.

Judge-Executive Kota Young explained that the revised grant program application altered the eligibility criteria, enabling the county to request a larger amount.

In other new business, the magistrates also unanimously approved a motion authorizing Judge Young to sign the necessary documentation for an airport grant.

Animal Shelter Director and Animal Control Officer Kevin Lane explained they had found a more affordable option.

click to download audioThe magistrates also unanimously approved a resolution declaring some scrap tiles and other items from the Caldwell County Road Department as surplus for disposal.

During reports, Caldwell County Fire Chief Brent Francis noted that dry conditions are beginning to pose a risk for grass fires but he stopped short of requesting the Fiscal Court to implement a burn ban.

During the judge-executive’s comments, Young reminded magistrates and residents about a public hearing scheduled for Thursday morning, September 5, at 9:00 in the Fiscal Courtroom to discuss the proposed tax rates. At the August 13 meeting, magistrates approved maintaining the 2024 property tax rate at 10 cents per $100 of assessed value and adjusting the personal property tax rate to 10 cents per $100 assessed value, slightly less than last year’s rate of 10.7 cents.
