Two teens were transported to the hospital after a car was hit by a semi in Lyon County last week.
Lyon County Sheriff Brent White reports that last Monday, August 26, he was sent to a collision at the intersection of U.S. 62 and KY 810 South.
According to Sheriff White, the investigation revealed a car driven by 18-year old Kiya Hazelwood of Benson, Arizona was at the intersection of KY 810 and attempted to turn onto U.S. 62 westbound when she failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of a semi-truck and trailer driven by 40-year old Robert Cannon of Falls of Rough, who was eastbound on U.S. 62.
Sheriff White said Hazelwood and her passenger, 18-year old Ella Patterson of Kuttawa, were both transported by ambulance to Paducah hospitals for treatment of injuries. Cannon was uninjured in the crash.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Kentucky State Police, Kuttawa Fire Department, and Lyon County EMS.
