Gov. Beshear Announces Funding for Dawson Springs and Caldwell County Water District

Governor Andy Beshear has announced that Dawson Springs and the Caldwell County Water District have been awarded funding from the West Kentucky SAFE Fund.

During his Team Kentucky Update on Thursday, the Governor announced five new awards totaling nearly $9.4 million to aid communities in recovering from the financial strains caused by devastating natural disasters. Three of these awards come from the East Kentucky State Aid Funding for Emergencies (SAFE) fund, while the remaining two are from the West Kentucky SAFE Fund.

He announced that Dawson Springs received over $2.5 million from the West Kentucky SAFE Fund, while the Caldwell County Water District was awarded $1,383.

click to download audioGovernor Beshear recommended establishing the West Kentucky SAFE Fund, which the 2022 General Assembly supported by passing Senate Bill 150, which was signed by the Governor in April 2022. In August 2022, Beshear and the General Assembly also established the East Kentucky SAFE Fund.
