Caldwell County Animal Shelter Shares Virtual 5K Info with Fiscal Court

During Tuesday morning’s meeting, the Caldwell County Fiscal Court received a presentation about the upcoming second annual Caldwell County Animal Shelter Virtual 5K Shuffle, an event to raise funds for the local shelter.

Linda Crenshaw spoke to the magistrates on behalf of Caldwell County Animal Shelter Director Kevin Lane, who was not present at the meeting. She informed them that the deadline to sign up for the Virtual 5K is October 12 and mentioned that this year’s t-shirts feature a new design.

click to download audioJudge-Executive Kota Young and District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone expressed their gratitude to Crenshaw for her efforts with the animal shelter.

In new business, the magistrates unanimously authorized Judge Young to execute a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Infrastructure Grant.

click to download audioThe magistrates also approved the appointment of Brad Harrelson to the County Ethics Commission, with his term set to expire on December 31, 2025.

In other new business, City Intern Isabella “Boo” Burton shared information about an upcoming blood drive organized by the Princeton Homeschool Rotary Interact Club, scheduled for Monday, September 23.

During the reports, FEMA officials asked magistrates to remind their constituents that the deadline to apply for federal disaster and SBA assistance is September 23.

click to download audioFire Chief Brent Francis noted that despite the extremely dry conditions, the U.S. Forestry Service has not recommended issuing a burn ban for the county, as they are hopeful about the possibility of 2 to 3 inches of rain in our region later this week. Francis and county officials are asking the community to hold off any outdoor burning until the weekend.

The Fiscal Court also received updates from Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin, AmeriPro EMS Operations Supervisor Dana Woolsey, Caldwell County Jailer Willie Harper, and County Clerk Jennifer Hale. Details of these updates will be shared in the coming days.
