Princeton Man Charged with Drug Trafficking After Traffic Stop

12-19-23-arrest-2

A Princeton man was charged with drug trafficking and other offenses after a traffic stop on Garrett Street Thursday morning.

Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison reported that just before 8:00 AM, officers stopped a motorcycle driven 40-year-old David Oliver, who was known to have a suspended driver’s license. Upon approaching Oliver, officers detected the smell of marijuana. Additionally, they found that the motorcycle was not registered, and Oliver could not provide proof of insurance.

Oliver was taken into custody and transported to the Caldwell County Jail. After he was secured in the facility, Allison reported that officers searched the rear seat of the patrol vehicle and discovered suspected methamphetamine. Officers went back inside the jail, where staff reportedly found additional methamphetamine in Oliver’s clothing.

Oliver was charged with operating on a suspended license, no registration or insurance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and his second offense of trafficking meth.
