The Caldwell County Grand Jury issued several indictments this month including on charges of wanton endangerment and drug trafficking.
A true bill was returned on Joseph Pierce, of Princeton, on multiple charges including fleeing or evading police, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana and a controlled substance, controlled substance prescription not in a proper container, along with other offenses and three counts of wanton endangerment.
The charges are in connection to a nearly hour-long pursuit in Caldwell County on July 22 involving multiple law enforcement agencies after Princeton Police said they attempted to stop Pierce for speeding near the 500 block of Dawson Road. However, police said Pierce fled and the chase continued for nearly an hour before Pierce turned onto private property due to a bridge being under construction on KY 126, south of the Cobb Community in Caldwell County, where he was taken into custody.
Police reported that Pierce was under the influence of intoxicants and he was found in possession of marijuana and prescription pills not in a container.
Claude James Johnson, Jr., of Princeton, was indicted on charges of strangulation and assault.
The indictment alleges Johnson intentionally impeded the normal breathing or circulation of the blood by applying pressure to the throat of a woman and intentionally and wantonly caused physical injuries to a man on June 26.
A true bill was returned on Jason Thomas, of Louisville, on a charge of trafficking a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and persistent felony offender.
Thomas was taken into custody by Princeton Police on June 18 when officers went to a residence near the 500 block of Varmintrace Road to serve an active arrest warrant. While at the home, police said they found Thomas hiding in a closet, and a records check indicated he had an active Kentucky parole violation warrant.
Police said when Thomas was arrested he was found in possession of several baggies of suspected meth and a set of scales.
The grand jury returned two separate true bills on Jesse Wayne Adams, of Princeton, both charging him with trafficking marijuana – less than five pounds.
Adams is accused of unlawfully trafficking marijuana on two separate occasions on May 10 and June 12.
We’ll have more of the grand jury indictments in the coming days.
