Princeton Mayor Announces Big Springs Bark Park Opening

During Monday night’s Princeton City Council meeting, Mayor Brock Thomas announced the Big Springs Bark Park will open to the public this week.

Mayor Thomas reported that a double gate will be installed on Tuesday, and the dog park will open on Wednesday.

The Mayor also noted that a grand opening for the dog park would be held soon.

During his report, the mayor also provided an update on the City-County Park, noting that progress is currently at a “small standstill.”

click to download audioIn new business, the Council unanimously approved a proposal from Kiesler Police Supply for new weapons for the Princeton Police Department. Mayor Thomas noted that the cost would be less than a couple of thousand dollars after utilizing funds from a wrecked police cruiser.

click to download audioIn other new business, the Council unanimously approved declaring a generator at the Princeton Fire Department as surplus, following the installation of a new generator last week, funded by a grant.

James Noel, Superintendent of the Princeton Water and Wastewater Commission, provided an update on the Lead Service Inventory.

click to download audioHe requested approval of a resolution to apply for loan assistance from the Federally Assisted Drinking Water Revolving Fund through the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet and the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for proposed water treatment facility improvements.

The resolution was unanimously approved, with Councilmen Brian Conger and Carl Copeland absent from the meeting.
