Local Fire Chief Urges Caution Amid Persistent Dry Conditions

Princeton-Caldwell County Fire Chief Brent Francis is urging residents to exercise caution, as the weekend rain did little to alleviate the extremely dry conditions.

During Monday night’s Princeton City Council meeting, Chief Francis reported that firefighters battled a field fire earlier that day, which destroyed about an acre of soybeans.

click to download audioChief Francis stated that about 3 to 4 inches of rain are needed to break the drought conditions. He acknowledged that the light rain over the weekend provided some minor relief to the yards, but with no rain in the forecast, the area will soon return to the same dry state as before.
