Rev. Bobby Williamson, 77, of Princeton

Rev. Bobby Joe Williamson, departed this earthly realm on September 17, 2024, to be with his Lord and Heavenly Father, at the age of 77 in Madisonville, KY. Born on Christmas Day in 1946 in the humble town of Sturgis, KY, his life was a testament to the power of steadfast faith and selfless dedication.

Rev. Williamson was a man of unwavering commitment, first to his beloved country in the Air Force in the Vietnam War and then to the coal mining community of Union County as a diligent worker for Peabody Coal. But it was his call to serve the Lord that shaped his true legacy. Ordained in 1980, Rev. Williamson served the Lord for a remarkable 44 years, serving in many areas including head Pastor at Dekoven Baptist Church and New Harmony Rock Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Williamson, a member of Cole Miners Union #1793 and Silent Run Baptist Church, was an ardent NASCAR fan, celebrating the thrill of the race, even building his own race car. Those who knew him felt the embrace of his kindness and the fire of his spirited nature, always generous with his time and wisdom in building bonds within his family and community.

Rev. Willaimson was survived by his three daughters, Michelle Utley of Henderson, Shawna (Joel) Gray of Purnell, NC and Bobbie Schaffer-Orten (Nate) of Dawson Springs, KY; sister, Brenda (David) Pulley of Sturgis, KY; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Robinson, Joseph (Amber) Gray, Holly Gray, Rebakah (Tyler) Lane, Pacey Orten, Mallory Orten; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan Skaggs, Logan Lane, Cole Gray, Kate Gray, Jonathon Robinson; two great great grandchildren, Maggie and David Skaggs.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Frances Couch Williamson; parents, Joseph and Helen Martin Williamson; sister, Linda Buckman.

Visitation for Rev. Bobby Joe Williamson will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

Graveside services will follow at 12:30 PM at Otter Pond Cemetery in Caldwell County with Bro. Tim Morgan and Bro. Greg Hathaway officiating.
