Vernon Spencer, 80, of Kuttawa

Vernon Paul Spencer, 80, of Kuttawa, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 15, at his home. He was born October 17, 1943 in Lemont, Il.

He was an electrician and retired from ISP Chemicals, in Calvert City, as an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor. After retirement, he became the Harbormaster at Kuttawa Harbor Marina in 2012. He enjoyed boating and cars. He enjoyed making and collecting knives and collecting guns. He loved his dog and spending time with friends and family. He was a self-taught IT specialist; he also tinkered always and could fix anything. He was witty, a master of creating a jingle on the fly, and loved making us all laugh. His favorite things in life, besides his wife, were chocolate and ice cream.

Vernon is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cheryl and their puppy, Bella; siblings, Lois (John) Bahnick of Arlington Heights, IL, Darrell Spencer of Sherman, TX, Nancy (Ron) Taylor of Carrollton, TX; children, Lisa Breedlove of Kuttawa, Ian and Amy; grandchildren, Kali Lewis, Garrett Hina, Cody Hina, Logan (Kyle) Shaffer, Jordan (Tevan) Harper, Savannah Jane Walton; great-grandchildren, Kloie Hale, Kendra, Kinsley and Kage Wilson, Nevada and Oceann Hina, Camden, Isabelle and Braxton Hina, Forrest and Eloise Shaffer, Weston, Kolynn and Elias Harper. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Mildred Spencer; siblings Alan (Audrey) Spencer, Betty (Bill) Laasch and Barbara Sullivan; daughter MaryAnn Hina and their beloved puppies Barkley and Ali.

Visitation for Vernon will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 12 PM to 2 PM at Lakeland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at 2 PM at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Short officiating. Burial will follow at Kuttawa Cemetery.
