Three Tobacco Barns Destroyed in Separate Caldwell County Fires

Three tobacco barns were reduced to ashes in two separate fires in Caldwell County, keeping local firefighters busy throughout the night.

Around 9:15 Wednesday night, Caldwell County Fire Chief Brent Francis says that fourteen firefighters responded to the first fire, involving two tobacco barns owned by Cundiff Farms at 835 Wallonia Road.

click to download audioAccording to Chief Francis, firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.

Shortly before 4:30 Thursday morning, he reported that seven firefighters responded to another fire involving tobacco barns at 350 Cotton Road.

He says no injuries were reported in either of the fires.
