Three students have been charged in connection to a theft at Lyon County High School last week.
According to Lyon County Sheriff Brent White, he responded to the theft complaint at the high school shortly before 3:30 last Tuesday afternoon. When he arrived, he was told that an Apple iPhone, a protective case, and a personal check valued at $664 were stolen from a high school classroom.
Sheriff White said his investigation led to charges against the following students:
- On Wednesday, a 14-year old male student from Eddyville was charged with theft by unlawfully taking under $1,000 and complicity to tampering with physical evidence. He was lodged in the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
- Around 8:00 Thursday morning, a 14-year old male student from Princeton was charged with complicity to theft by unlawful taking under $1,000 and complicity to tampering with physical evidence. Sheriff White said this student was released to a parent/guardian by the authority of the Court Designated Worker.
- Around 10:00 Thursday morning, a 14-year old male student from Kuttawa was charged with complicity by unlawful taking under $1,000 and complicity to tampering with physical evidence. Sheriff White said this student was released to a parent/guardian by the authority of the Court Designated Worker.
Sheriff White said the stolen cell phone and protective case were recovered and returned to the victim; however, the stolen personal check has not been recovered.
