Caldwell County Fiscal Court Approves Courthouse Roof Repair Proposal

The Caldwell County Fiscal Court advanced efforts to address courthouse repairs by approving a proposal for work at Tuesday morning’s meeting.

Judge-Executive Kota Young explained that a state grant fully funds the approximately $857,000 proposal from WTI for the courthouse roof repair project.

click to download audioJudge Young also noted that the project had been cooperatively priced and bid through AEPA, allowing the Fiscal Court to proceed with Stevens and his scope of work proposal without needing to advertise for bids.

District 3 Magistrate Jeff Simms asked about the safety plans for the overhead work at the courthouse, with Stevens noting the work will be completed in phases.

In other new business, the magistrates approved a change order to the ER Assist task order. Judge Young explained that this adjustment increased the amount from $250,000 to $300,000 to finalize the County’s disaster monitoring contract.

Judge Young also presented a resolution to submit a KPDI application for a build-ready site project in the Industrial Park.
