James “Emmett” Jennings, 91, of Fredonia

Fredonia resident James “Emmett” Jennings culminated his life in a completely worn-out body. He accomplished this feat on Sunday, 9/22/2024 at the age of 91.

In his family tradition, he loved to spin his wheels having spent most of his life being a Truck Driver. His other identity as a retired veteran of the United States Air Force was evident. He served the nation proudly for over 21 years through both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a Christian, a Mason, a Shriner, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He was a Western Kentucky native of Crittenden County who resided in Caldwell County. He loved roaming about Marion, Fredonia, Eddyville, Kuttawa, and many other places in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. His favorite pastimes included helping those in need, tinkering in his shop, and lawn care.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Jennings, son Kevin Jennings, father Ray Jennings, mother Opal Jennings, and brother Charles Jennings. Surviving is his son David Jennings, siblings Glyndall, Robert, and Opal Lee along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Myers Funeral Home on Friday 9/27/2024 from 1 PM to 2 PM. Funeral services will follow promptly at 2 PM. After a brief graveside remembrance at Mapleview Cemetery, he will be laid to rest alongside his wife and eldest son. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mapleview Cemetery Association, PO Box 544, Marion, KY 42064 for perpetual care of his and the many other families’ sacred internment sites.

He was an active member of Crittenden County, Caldwell County, and Lyon County. May his good memory and quick smile remain for years to come. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Myers Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements.
