A suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of a trailer loaded with lumber from Caldwell County in December 2023.
According to Sheriff Don Weedman, his office initiated an investigation on December 14, 2023, into the theft of a 2013 Load Trail Gooseneck trailer loaded with lumber. He mentioned that his office has been collaborating with surrounding counties to identify leads in the case.
On Wednesday, Sheriff Weedman reported that his office was contacted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office after a trailer matching the description was found near Tylene. He said the victim identified the trailer despite the removal of the Vehicle Identification Number and brand plate. The trailer, along with part of the lumber, was returned to the owner.
Sheriff Weedman said the suspect will face charges in Livingston County for receiving stolen property valued over $10,000, while the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office continues to pursue charges related to the actual theft.
