Kentucky State Police in Madisonville is seeking the public’s help locating a Princeton man who escaped from the Webster County Detention Center Saturday morning.

KSP Post 2 spokesman Trooper Ridge Porter says they were contacted by the Webster County Detention Center shortly before 7:30 Saturday morning regarding an escaped inmate.

He says a preliminary investigation revealed 30-year old Greg Munsell walked away from the Webster County Detention Center located at 141 Stegall Street in Dixon around 6:00 Saturday morning.

Munsell is described as 5’11”, 174 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit. Trooper Porter says Munsell has a significant identifying cross tattoo on his left forearm and tattoos on his chest, back, and ankle.

This isn’t the first report of Munsell escaping from jail. As previously reported by Your News Edge, the Princeton Police reported in April that Munsell was furloughed to a rehab/treatment facility and was to report to the Caldwell County Jail upon completion or termination from the facility. Police said he arrived at the Caldwell County Jail and was waiting to be processed when he ran out the front door and didn’t return. Police obtained a warrant for Munsell charging him with escape.

Two days later, Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison said officers responded to a residence near the 600 block of North Jefferson Street for a burglary and auto theft. He says the investigation revealed that someone had entered the victim’s home, stolen her purse and keys, and then stole the victim’s vehicle.

On April 15, Princeton Police were informed by the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen vehicle had been recovered on Ogden Landing Road. A witness reportedly identified Munsell as the person who abandoned the car, but authorities couldn’t locate him. Munsell is also accused of stealing another vehicle in McCracken County, where detectives found video evidence of him using stolen credit cards.

On April 20, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office arrested Munsell on multiple warrants, including one from Caldwell County for escape. In June, the Caldwell County grand jury indicted Munsell on charges of burglary, auto theft, credit/debit card theft, escape, and being a persistent felony offender.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Gregory Munsell is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police, Post 2 at (270) 676-3313.  Citizens may also report tips confidentially through the KSP website: https://www.kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov/tip
