Princeton Man Arraigned in Fatal Motorcycle Crash Involving Infant Son

A Princeton man, who was indicted last month in connection with a fatal motorcycle accident that resulted in the death of his infant son, was arraigned in Caldwell County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning.

Joseph Traylor faces charges of murder, reckless driving, and DUI in connection with the death of his 15-month-old son, Terry Desmond Traylor, on July 5th.

Appearing before Judge Jamus Redd, Joseph Traylor and his public defender, Mary Rohrer, entered a not-guilty plea to the charges. Following the plea, Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins elaborated on a motion she had filed on Monday, seeking an order to transfer blood samples.

On July 5, Princeton Police reported an investigation revealed Traylor was driving a motorcycle the wrong way on a one-way street with his child strapped to his chest. Police said Traylor attempted a wheelie before losing control of the motorcycle and hitting a telephone pole.

On July 5, Princeton Police reported that an investigation revealed Traylor was driving a motorcycle the wrong way on a one-way street with his child strapped to his chest. According to police, Traylor attempted a wheelie before losing control of the motorcycle in the 300 block of Beverly Lane and collided with a telephone pole.

Traylor and his son were both transported by ambulance to Caldwell Medical Center, where the child was pronounced dead. Traylor was flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, for treatment. After being released from the hospital, he was arrested on a warrant and is currently being held in the Caldwell County Jail.

Traylor will return to court for a pretrial conference scheduled at 9:00 Tuesday morning, December 3.
