Ricky Mayes, a man of commendable kindness, friendliness, and thoughtfulness, departed this world on October 4, 2024, in Paducah, KY at the age of 57.
Ricky was born on October 29, 1966 in Princeton, KY to the late William and Hazel Croft Mayes. Ricky served his country in the U.S. Army. After leaving the armed forces, Ricky worked as a dedicated factory worker at Tyson and Wal-Mart. Ricky’s passion for youth shone brightly through his involvement in coaching Upward Basketball and his active leadership within the Boy Scouts. His commitment to faith was evident in his active membership at First Baptist Church in Henderson, KY, and upon relocating to Lyon County, he similarly devoted himself to the congregation at First Baptist Church in Eddyville. In his free time, Ricky could be found cheering on his favorite basketball team, the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
Survivors include his son, Collin (Tatum Metzler) Mayes of Evansville, IN; two sisters, Lucinda (Mark) Breedlove of Eddyville, KY and Vicki (Joe) Bynum of Lyon County; one nephew Derrick (Shelby) Thweatt; several great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
